Peer-To-Peer Workshop

Learn what it’s like to live on your own, from other adults with disabilities

Learn with and from peer instructors in the community.

In this unique 5-session workshop series, older teens and adults with disabilities have an opportunity to learn what it’s like to live on their own. Individuals learn with and from peer instructors who are already living in the community with supports. Sessions are offered in September, January, and May.

Peer-To-Peer Workshop Structure

Learn from Peer Instructors

Peer instructors share their own experiences, learning and tools. Each week we focus on a different aspect of independent living such as meal planning, budgeting, sharing space with housemates, and much more.

Virtual Home Visits

We virtually visit our peer instructors in their homes, where they showcase the skills and tools that they have developed to live their best lives.

Facilitated Sessions

Interactive and facilitated sessions include time for making connections, celebrating accomplishments, and socializing.

Reinforced Learning

Small assignments between sessions reinforce learning and provide practice for establishing new skills for independence.

“I like helping my peers who are thinking about living on their own. I like talking about all the independence I have learned in the last few years.”

Mo, Peer to Peer Workshop Instructor
